Imperfection may be beautiful. This does not apply to the world of photography. When it comes to images and pictures, the slight artistic touches make all the difference in the world. Processing and editing the photograph has become quite customary. It could mean improving the colours and the contrast or adding and removing objects and requires the best possible mouse – many of the best gaming mice will do.

Need for Photoshop

Photography is an art. There are several techniques utilized to capture the images in a very surreal manner. Most often than not, the image does not do justice to the actual scene. Photoshop is used to improvise the image and bring out the beauty that the camera could not achieve.

The software is an extensive package and quite expensive in nature. Not everyone would like to spend a bomb on it. There are many companies that have come up with pocket-friendly alternatives to Photoshop. This has made life very easy for photo-enthusiasts.

Some of the options are

GIMP

One of the most popular alternatives to Photoshop is The GNU Image Manipulation Program (GIMP). This open-source software is available for free and is compatible with both Mac and Windows version. All the features that are available on Photoshop are here. It is very easy to learn as well if you are familiar with Photoshop.

Affinity Photo

It may not be free like GIMP but it does not cost a bomb either. With an interface strikingly similar to Photoshop, is has very powerful tools that can be used both professionally and personally. The similarity to Photoshop makes it user-friendly to someone who is familiar with it.

Sketch

If you are looking for software with a full-bodied design tool that can create modern designs, Sketch is what you need. With a simple user interface and a fantastic collection of features that are comparable to Adobe Photoshop and Illustrator. Sketch is very fluid in nature and it’s easy to use interface is perfect for beginners.

Pixlr

Pixlr is one of the perfect alternatives to Photoshop. It can be run from the browser making it a very attractive option. The many advanced features such as dodge, colour, curves and burn make it a very obvious choice to those who love to play with their images. It is also available as an application and is compatible with tablets and phones. The web-version of this software is available for free.

Sumo Paint

The only catch to Sumo Paint is that it requires Adobe Flash in order to function. This photo editor is browser based and is available for free. All the essential editing capabilities are available on this software along with detailed features such as cloning, pencils, brushes, shapes and gradients. They can be matched with Photoshop.

Pixelmator

This image editor is available only on Mac. It may not have all the features of Adobe Photoshop but it is still worth a purchase. This is slightly more advanced than GIMP and you can design a lot more with this software. Pixelmator is not just for photographers. Anyone can use and like this photo editor.

Representing art in its finest form is what Photoshop is all about. Capture your image and ‘Photoshop’ it to perfection.
